Visual effects specialist Cedric Nicolas-Troyan is in talks to take over from Frank Darabont as director of the upcoming prequel to “Snow White and the Huntsman”. Darabont departed the project last week due to creative differences.
The film is set before the events of the 2012 movie and show how Chris Hemsworth’s title character and Charlize Theron’s evil queen Ravenna met before the events in the previous film. Emily Blunt has been in talks to play a villain.
Nicolas-Troyan served as second unit director on the original movie and has been a visual effects man on some major blockbusters like the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films. The ‘Huntsman’ prequel would be his directorial debut, though he has been linked to other fantasy projects in recent times including the “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” sequel and the “Highlander” remake.
Darabont, Craig Mazin and Evan Spiliotopoulos penned the most recent draft of the script and the film is still targeting an April 22nd 2016 release.
