Nicolas Cage To Direct “Vengenance”

Following word last month that he would be starring, Nicolas Cage is now onboard to also direct the upcoming independent thriller “Vengeance: A Love Story” for Patriot Pictures.

Cage is directing from a John Mankiewicz screenplay, based on Joyce Carol Oates’ 2003 novel “Rape: A Love Story.” The action is set in the aftermath a gang rape with the victim, a single mother in her 30s, left for dead in a park boathouse.

The attack was witnessed by her daughter, whose credibility is attacked at the subsequent trial, leading to a Gulf War veteran turned policeman (Cage) becoming her unexpected champion.

Michael Mendelsohn will produce and filming begins in April in Atlanta.
