Nickelodeon is developing a new TV movie based on its classic 1990s animated series “Hey Arnold!”. That show followed a fourth-grader with an oblong head who lived with his grandparents in a boarding house.
The telemovie is a direct sequel rather than a reboot, picking up where the original series ended and resolving unanswered plotlines – including the whereabouts of Arnold’s parents, long missing from the program.
The project continues the channel’s push to mine the network’s vast library of original series to develop into new shows for modern day audiences with shows like “The Wild Thornberrys” or “Ren and Stimpy” potentially making a comeback.
Executives at the network haven’t specified a date when the telemovie might be ready or air.
