While the cast and crew are now known, plot and character specifics regarding the upcoming live-action “Star Wars” TV series “The Mandalorian” remain frustratingly vague.
We know that Pedro Pascal takes on the titular role of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. The story will also unfold between the time of “Return of the Jedi” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.
Specifics of other characters, however, have not been forthcoming. Now, Making Star Wars has revealed that co-star Nick Nolte could well be playing an Ugnaught in the film. The short and part animal race served as technicians in Cloud City during “The Empire Strikes Back”.
Nolte will reportedly only provide the voice and facial movements for the character via an animatronic mask which will be worn by a “small woman” on set. Nolte is said to have performed his scenes while taking a break from a different project.
The site also indicates the bounty hunter characters who appeared in ‘Empire’ will be popping up on “The Mandalorian” as well and will tie in with a subplot involving a droid cult. Carl Weathers, Werner Herzog, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow and Omid Abtahi co-star.
The series is expected to premiere on Disney+ at some point next year.
