This coming weekend’s episode of HBO’s fantasy saga “Game of Thrones,” the fourth episode of the seventh season, has leaked online on torrent sites. Apparently, the leak is NOT part of the reported recent hack of the premium cabler.
The Verge reports that the online leak of the episode has been sourced from distribution partner Star India with the company’s logo watermarked throughout.
That’s separate from the reported 1.5 terabytes of data stolen by hackers from HBO servers recently. It appears hackers haven’t managed to obtain full episodes, only publishing screenplays for some upcoming episodes.
On Wednesday, HBO president Richard Plepler told employees the hackers likely didn’t break into its email system. A forensic review of their servers is ongoing. The hackers are reportedly threatening to release “additional content” this coming Sunday.
