  • "Wall Street" Sequel Moves Forward
    By Garth FranklinTuesday, October 14th 2008 8:25am
image Two hot things in the news right now are Oliver Stone and Wall Street, so imagine the hits an article like this generates.

20th Century Fox is moving forward with plans for "Money Never Sleeps", a sequel to Stone's 1987 feature "Wall Street" reports the trades.

Allan Loeb ("21") is doing a page-one rewrite of the screenplay which will again center on the first film's antagonist Gordon Gekko. The slick investor has recently been sprung from prison and re-emerges into a much more tumultuous financial world than the one he once lorded over.

Michael Douglas played the role in the original and though not formally attached, he's likely to return to one of his signature characters pending script approval.

The first film's protagonist Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen) will not appear in the sequel.
