TNT has handed out a script order for a spinoff of "The Closer" the hit comedy/drama reports Reuters.

Starring Kyra Sedgwick as the Atlanta-born head of LA's priority homicide division, the acclaimed series remains the most watched TV series made for cable. Jon Tenney, G.W. Bailey, J.K. Simmons also star.

It's unclear whether the untitled spinoff would focus on an existing "Closer" character or an altogether new one, but creator/executive producer James Duff is co-writing the script.
