"The O.C." hunk Ben McKenzie will star in a film version of the one-man stage show "Dalton Trumbo's Johnny Got His Gun" for Truly Indie and Greenwood Hill Prods. says The Hollywood Reporter.

Rowan Joseph's anti-war drama is a portrait of a World War I soldier with battlefield injuries that leave him trapped in his own body, unable to communicate with others.

Trumbo adapted and directed his 1938 novel into a film in 1971 which Bradley Rand Smith adapted into an Off-Broadway project in 1982 starring Jeff Daniels. This film is an adaptation of that project.

The film will premiere Sept. 22 in Austin, Texas followed by runs in California, New York and elsewhere. Details can be found at the film's official site.
