  • McAvoy, Blunt In Love With "Gnomeo"
    By Garth FranklinWednesday, August 20th 2008 1:07am
image British thesps James McAvoy and Emily Blunt are in negotiations to play the title roles in the CGI-animated Shakespeare adaptation "Gnomeo and Juliet" for Miramax and Rocket Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter.

Kelly Asbury will direct this loose and edgy adaptation of Shakespeare's play, McAvoy and Blunt would play lovers from rival gardens. The film will feature several classics by singer Elton John (who owns Rocket) who is pursuing big-name talent to voice supporting roles.

Kate Winslet was first attached to voice Juliet two years ago and fell out because of scheduling conflicts. Tim Rice was approached to write original songs and is also no longer involved.

Now in the storyboard stage, production is expected to be completed by 2010.
