Everyone's favourite metrosexual hunk Jake Gyllenhaal and upcoming secondary Bond girl actress Gemma Arterton are set for the lead roles in the upcoming Disney/Bruckheimer feature "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" says the trades.

In the fantasy adventure, Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

The news of Gyllenhaal's potential involvement first broke at Latino Review last month but many have wondered whether Gyllenhaal will have time to get ready for the grueling physical production due to a leg injury sustained the other month. Either way many fans may cry with the news as it means the studio will probably force the famously hairy star to wax his chest (noooooo!!).

Mike Newell is directing the adaptation of Ubisoft's popular video game series, and production is set to start in July.
