Universal Pictures has picked up Mickey Rapkin's nonfiction novel "Pitch Perfect" says The Hollywood Reporter.

"Pitch" is intended to be a comedy set in the competitive collegiate a cappella world. Rapkin's book followed the teams from Tuft University, the University of Oregon and the University of Virginia, writing about the singing, groupies, partying and rivalries.

Kay Cannon ("30 Rock") has been tapped to write the adaptation, which actress Elizabeth Banks will produce but not star in.
