Former "Las Vegas" star Molly Sims has joined the cast of Velveteen Films' indie drama "Hickory Nation" says The Hollywood Reporter.

Written and directed by Velveteen's Rebecca Cook, the film revolves around a small Maine coastal community dealing with the aftermath of a mysterious hit-and-run accident. The event brings together a teacher and her two students, each struggling with secrets and lies.

Sims ("Las Vegas") plays a teacher in the town who lost her daughter. Aimee Teegarden ("Friday Night Lights") plays a local beauty queen who is one of her students. Shooting begins next summer.
