Rapper Common ("Wanted," "Street Kings," "American Gangster") has signed on to co-star in McG's "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins" for Warner Bros. and Halcyon Pictures reports Variety.

The story centers on John Connor (Christian Bale) who leads what is left of the human race in a battle against the machines. Common will play a freedom fighter and member of Connor's inner circle.

Common was most recently linked to play The Green Lantern in Warners abandoned "Justice League: Mortal" project.

Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin and Moon Bloodgood also star in T4 scheduled to open May 22nd.
