Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group will distribute Liberty Films' sci-fi thriller "Moon" reports the trades.

The film takes place on a moon base and centers on a man (Sam Rockwell) who mines the precious gas that holds the key to reversing the Earth's energy crisis.

The project marks the directorial debut of Duncan Jones who co-wrote the film with Nathan Parker.
