  • Further Details On Coppola's "Tetro"
    By Garth FranklinFriday, March 28th 2008 9:13am
image Francis Ford Coppola has teamed with Spain's Tornasol Films and Italy's BIM Distribuzione to co-produce his previously announced $15 million Argentinean immigration tale "Tetro" reports Variety.

"Tetro" toplines Vincent Gallo as an Italian traveling to Argentine from the U.S. to find his brother (Alden Ehrenreich) who abandoned the family years earlier. Javier Bardem, Maribel Verdu, Rodrigo de la Serna, Jean-Francois Casanovas and Leticia Bredice also star.

Coppola said the story was reminiscent of his own life and roots in New York City. He will direct from his own screenplay, which was stolen with his computer from his Buenos Aires home in September but for which he had backup copies.

Filming starts March 31st in La Boca, a poor district of Buenos Aires, and will continue in the capital before moving to the Andean foothills of Patagonia.

Shooting will then move to Spain's Ciudad de la Luz studios in Alicante in mid-May. Dialogue will be in English, Italian and Spanish.
