Neil Marshall ("The Descent," "Doomsday") has signed on to direct "Drive" for Universal Pictures says Variety.

An adaptation of the James Sallis novel, Hugh Jackman is attached to play a Hollywood stunt driver who moonlights as a getaway car driver in heists.

The stuntman's existence gets jolted when he discovers that a contract has been put out on his life. The action revolves around three car chases during which some important exposition occurs.

Hossein Amini wrote the script, and Universal hopes to begin production of it this Summer. Scheduling will determine whether Jackman can be involved.

Marshall recently made a deal at Universal after signing to write and direct the Old West-set horror drama "Sacrilege."
