Gerard Butler ("300," "Phantom of the Opera") will produce and star in the psychological thriller "Law Abiding Citizen" for his new production company Evil Twins.

Butler plays a successful assistant D.A. who finds himself at the center of a vigilante plot hatched by a traumatized victim of the legal system.

Kurt Wimmer ("The Thomas Crown Affair," "Equilibrium") wrote the screenplay and shooting will begin in the summer according to Variety.

Evil Twins is also gearing up to produce Danny Rubin's "Hanging Tale", and a Ron Bass-penned adaptation of Frank McCourt's novel "Teacher Man".

Butler is about to begin filming the romantic comedy "The Ugly Truth" with Katherine Heigl, recently wrapped sci-fi action film "Game", and next appears in "Nim's Island" and "RocknRolla."
