  • "Justice League" On Course Again?
    By Garth FranklinWednesday, February 27th 2008 12:55am
image This is confusing. Yesterday's SMH article has now been dismissed by Variety who says that the "Justice League" project is on course to start filming in Sydney in a few months for release Summer 2009.

The project was put on hold a while back due to various problems, most notably the script which needed some major re-writes but weren't able to undergo them due to the writer's strike.

Now, with the strike over, Kieran and Michele Mulroney have apparently been extra busy polishing up the script and getting it ready for submission back to the studio next month.

The cast has also been advised to keep in training for the shoot which, pending script approval, would probably start mid-year. Pre-production has apparently gotten underway again at Fox Studios in Sydney where "Wolverine", League's biggest rival at the box-office next Summer, just began a good portion of its filming.

One of the reasons for the resurge is Warners 2009 slate. With Marvel having reduced its comic book adaptation slate to just "Wolverine" in May, and the studio having not set any Summer releases after the next "Terminator" on May 22nd, there's a big gap that needs to be filled.

Project looks likely to take either a mid-June or mid-July slot, the same that this year they are filling with the "Batman Begins" sequel "The Dark Knight" which is expected to easily be one of the biggest hits of the year.
