  • Shia Takes On New "Indiana" Trilogy
    By Garth FranklinSaturday January 5th 2008 12:38am
image "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" may well be the film that kicks off a second Indiana Jones trilogy says Jim Windolf in a follow-up piece to his extensive report for Vanity Fair earlier this week.

When Spielberg was asked if this film leaves open room for another one, the director responded with a typical brush off - "Oh, I don't know. I haven't even thought about that. I'm still in the cutting room. I can't even think beyond the next cut."

Producer Frank Marshall is more direct about the possibility - "I don't think so. We're all getting too old. We have to hand the torch to somebody else. I don't know who that's going to be."

This has lead to speculation that Ford will assume a background role as rising star Shia LaBeouf takes the punishment and the glory as an "Indiana Jones, version 2.0--an Indy in black leather for a new generation of adventure-film fans."
