  • Agbaje & Taghmaoui Join "G.I. Joe"
    By Garth FranklinThursday December 20th 2007 1:15am
image Mr Eko from "Lost" himself, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, along with Said Taghmaoui ("Sleeper Cell," "The Kite Runner") have joined Paramount's live action film "G.I. Joe" says The Hollywood Reporter.

Stephen Sommers is directing Stuart Beattie's latest screenplay draft based on the popular Hasbro action figures, comic book series and Saturday morning cartoon.

That cartoon featured military soldiers fighting a terrorist group called Cobra, with characters like the mute ninja Snake Eyes (Ray Park) on the side of the good guys.

This latest version has G.I. JOE, which stands for Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, as an international force of operatives set in Brussels.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje will play ordnance expert Heavy Duty and Taghmaoui will play Breaker, the team's communications specialist.

The pair join Sienna Miller, Byeong-Heon Lee and Rachel Nichols who were recently cast on the project. The film is scheduled for an August 2009 release.
