Stephen Norrington ("Blade," "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen") will direct Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures remake of 1981 cult classic "Clash of the Titans" reports Variety.

The original is an adaptation of the classic Greek myth of Perseus and his quest to battle both Medusa and the Kraken monster in order to save the Princess Andromeda. Harry Hamlin, Maggie Smith, Laurence Olivier, Burgess Meredith, Ursula Andress, and a bunch of Ray Harryhausen stop motion animated creatures starred.

The studios are planned a production start next year. Lawrence Kasdan ("The Empire Strikes Back") penned the latest draft of the script.
