  • UA Does Rice's "Body Thief"?
    By Garth FranklinFriday November 30th 2007 12:52am
image Bloody Disgusting has reported an interesting rumor - that another film based on Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles is in development over at Cruise/Wagner controlled United Artists.

Previously the first book in the series, "Interview with the Vampire", saw a high-profile adaptation in 1994 by Neil Jordan and starred Tom Cruise as the charismatic vampire Lestat.

In 2002 the studio adapted the second and third book of the series into "Queen of the Damned" which had Irish actor Stuart Townsend as Lestat.

Now according to the scooper, rights to the fourth book in the series - "The Tale of the Body Thief" - are being pursued by United Artists.

The novel sees a depressed Lestat, having failed to commit suicide, meeting a thief capable of swapping bodies and does so in order to experience a new life. Ultimately though he learns he's been tricked and must find a way to get his original body back.
