  • Chadha Tries "Full-Frontal Snogging"
    By Garth FranklinWednesday September 26th 2007 3:05am
image Acclaimed director Gurinder Chadha ("Bend it Like Beckham," "Bride and Prejudice") is to start principle photography on "Angus, Thongs & Full-Frontal Snogging," adapted from Louise Rennison's bestselling book.

Filming on the Paramount and Nickelodeon production will take place in Brighton, Eastbourne, at London locations, and Ealing Studios. Gurinder Chadha will direct and produce the film she co-scripted with Paul Mayeda Berges.

Georgia Groome ("London to Brighton") will play the lead protagonist Georgia Nicolson with support from Eleanor Tomlinson and Aaron Johnson. The film follows the eccentric but irresistible Georgia Nicolson as she struggles with the trauma of being a teenager.

Misunderstood by her parents, who have no comprehension of what she is experiencing, buoyed by the love of her old cat Angus and her tight knit group of friends, the Ace Gang, Georgia strives to achieve her two main desires: 1) to get a gorgeous "sex-god" as her boyfriend; 2) to throw the greatest 15th birthday party ever.

Gurinder Chadha commented: "In Georgia we have a wonderful character that anyone who is a stroppy teenager, or has ever been a stroppy teenager, will completely relate to and understand how parents, teachers and infact the world conspires against you just as you are bursting with adulthood - a kind of Bridget Jones at 14 - but with more attitude! I was drawn to just how real and funny Georgia is and that's why she and the books have such a huge international readership."
