Paramount has apparently offered Stephen Sommers ("The Mummy," "Van Helsing") the job of directing their adaptation of 80's cartoon/toy property "G.I. Joe" reports IESB.

They also say the project will combine the two scripts they have on hand, Skip Woods origin story and Elliot/Lovett’s more straight out adaptation.

What this means for Sommer’s remake of "When Worlds Collide" which is supposedly in pre-production. Mark Walberg remains rumoured for the title role in 'Joe'.
