Director Paul W.S. Anderson has revealed that Tyrese Gibson and Joan Allen have joined the cast for his remake of 1975 cult racing flick "Death Race."

Jason Statham stars in the project as Frankenstein, a racer in a brutally violent futuristic car racing marathon where drivers score points for taking out competitors and other racers.

Gibson is set to play Machine Gun Joe, the role made famous by Sylvester Stallone in the original, and Joan Allen will serve as the main villain. Filming begins next month in Montreal.
