  • Almodovar & Winslet Lay On A "Beach"
    By Garth FranklinFriday July 6th 2007 9:05am
image WENN nabbed a quote recently from Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodovar ("The Bad Education," "Volver") that is a curious one to say the least.

The director says "What I'd really like to do is make Ian McEwan's latest book into a film. And there is no shortage of British actresses to cast in it; I would definitely like to work with Kate Winslet who is a good friend of mine."

British novelist Ian McEwan has written ten novels in his career including several that were made into film adaptations like the Daniel Craig thriller "Enduring Love", the upcoming Keira Knightley period piece "Atonement", and the Paul Schrader-directed ensemble drama "The Comfort of Strangers."

His latest book is "On Chesil Beach" which tells the story of the Dorset-set honeymoon night of two just married and chaste virgins in 1962 who finally get to explore their own sensuality.
