  • "Neuromancer" Finally Goes Online
    By Garth FranklinSaturday May 19th 2007 8:40am
image William Gibson's 1984 sci-fi bestseller "Neuromancer" will finally get the film treatment in the form of a $70 million sci-fi adventure feature for Seven Arts reports Variety.

Joseph Kahn ("Torque") will direct the adaptation which tells the story of Case, an out-of-work computer hacker hired by an unknown patron to participate in a seemingly impossible crime.

Long before the Net became a part of our lives, Gibson's novel dealt with topics like artificial intelligence, virtual reality, genetic engineering and cyberspace. The novel practically invented the genre of 'cyberpunk' and subsequent themed films from "Johnny Mnemonic" and "Strange Days" to "The Matrix" trilogy.

The film is being fast-tracked in order to replace the Paul Verhoeven project "The Winter Queen" which has been delayed due to lead star Milla Jovovich's pregnancy.
