  • More Recent Release Date Changes
    By Zephyr Monday May 14th 2007 8:39am
image 'Zephyr' here with some relatively late release date changes, but I'd rather go ahead with a bundle pack to make things a bit easier.

Balls of Fury, that ping-pong film starring George Lopez and Christopher Walken, has moved up a week from the crowded September 7th date to August 31st where it will face Death Sentence and Rob Zombie's Halloween.

The spot was made availbable because the international hit Mr. Bean's Holiday has moved up a week into August 24th, 2007. This month still has way too many comedies though.

Illegal Tender, a John Singleton-produced, Reggae-influenced drama, will also come out August 24th, 2007. This release date is similar to the previous Singleton film, Four Brothers, was able to find mid-level success in mid-August.

The Tales of Despereaux, a Universal CGI-animated fantasy epic starring an ensemble cast ranging from Tracey Ullman, Sigourney Weaver, Stanley Tucci and Dustin Hoffman, will release on the prestigious Winter tentpole of December 19th, 2008. However, it will have to compete against Weinstein Company's Opus: The Last Christmas and Sony Picture's Angels and Demons. Expect one of these to move to the second week; since that is a typical fantasy epic slate, Despereaux could move up a week.

Prom Night, a Screen Gems horror remake, has moved from February 1st, 2008 to a weekend that will actually have proms: April 11th, 2008. Only make sense, right?

Made of Honor, a Columbia Pictures romantic comedy starring Grey's Anatomy lead Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghen, has moved from February 8th, 2008 to May 2nd, 2008 to compete against Iron Man. Since, you know, a romantic comedy counter-programming to a superhero movie is such a great idea. Just ask Lucky You.

Nowhereland, a Paramount Pictures fantasy-comedy starring Eddie Murphy, will come out September 26th, 2008, which is slightly less than four months after Starship Dave. Look like Murphy's a hot commodity again.

The Dark Is Rising has moved up a week from September 28th 2007 to October 5th. Even though that date currently has five releases, each are different enough from the other to give each their own audience.

The Comebacks, a Fox Atomic sports comedy with David Koechner in a lead role, has moved from August 24th 2007 to October 26th 2007. Unlike 2006 where Saw III was left alone, now three other films will face Saw IV in anticipation of the franchise finally faltering.

Fanboys, the MGM-Weinstein about four fanboys going on an epic journey to see Episode I, has moved nearly half a year from August 17th, 2007 to January 18th, 2008.

Who's Your Caddy, an unknwon sports comedy from MGM, will come out July 27th, 2007. This just sounds like a throwaway; I found nothing even on your site.

The vagabond Mr. Woodcock has moved once again, this time from September 21st to September 14th, 2007. Buck says it doesn't stay there.
