Director Shawn Levy ("Night at the Museum," "The Pink Panther") is set to helm Fox Searchlight's character-driven comedy "The Way Back."

Penned by Jim Rash and Nat Faxon, the coming-of-age story centers on a 15-year-old boy who comes into his own over the course of one summer though an unlikely friendship with the man in charge of a local water park.

The boy is able to reconnect with his mom and find the courage to stand up to his bullying stepfather.

21 Laps will produce the film, which begins shooting mid-June.
