After great success with the first "The Chronicles of Narnia" movie shoot in New Zealand, word was that much of the shooting on the sequel "Prince Caspian" would again take place down there. Not so it seems.
Empire Online reports that Andy Bird, president of Walt Disney Entertainment, made the announcement late last week that shooting will begin in February, this time at London's famed Pinewood studios.
Why the sudden change, after all New Zealand has always been a much cheaper place to shoot. Well last week Chancellor Gordon Brown announced new tax breaks for filmmaking in Britain, essentially re-opening a
loophole which had been in place til 2004.
For the last two years due to its closure, much of the industry in Blighty has been in a drought as many productions have left for cheaper shores, most notably "Casino Royale" which ended up shooting most of its interiors in Prague - a real shock as the franchise has always been based out of Pinewood studios.
Post-production is also slated to take place in Britain, making one wonder whether WETA workshops will again be involved.
