Fox Atomic has officially shut down its first production, the $12.5 million remake of the 1984 cult classic "Revenge of the Nerds" which Kyle Newman was directing.
Shooting on the film, which had only been underway for two weeks, was halted earlier this month. The reason behind the stoppage was that the officials at the film's major location, Emory University in Atlanta, balked at the raunchy nature of the project shooting on their grounds.
After the halting the studio worked to try and restart the production, but spokeswoman Isabel White says "it was unlikely we were going to be able to get anything going until after the holidays" and so the studio decided to pull the plug.
The studio has released all parties from the project, all with compensation.
