  • Silver Sets Dark Castle Projects
    By Garth FranklinMonday October 16th 2006 5:05am
Joel Silver's Dark Castle Productions has raised $240 million in capital to finance fifteen films over the next six years reports the trades.

In one hell of a lucrative deal, Silver has sole approval to greenlight pics, full creative control, and will own the pics outright after his investors get paid back.

Dark Castle's slate has included such films as "House of Wax", "Gothika", "House on Haunted Hill", "Ghost Ship" and the upcoming "The Reaping".

First film in the deal, which Warner Bros. will distribute, is expected to be the action thriller "Whiteout" about a lone U.S. marshal in Antarctica tracking the continent's first serial killer.

Psychological horror pic "The Summoner" to be directed by Victor Salva ("Jeepers Creepers") and urban action movie "Gangland" are also on the way.
