  • "Sleuth" Remake Gets Underway
    By Garth FranklinThursday September 7th 2006 12:33am
After several years of development problems, the Jude Law-Michael Caine led remake of "Sleuth" has finally got a greenlight reports Variety.

Kenneth Branagh will direct an adaptation of the Anthony Shaffer play, scripted by Harold Pinter, and shooting takes place starting in January at Twickenham Studios in London.

The story follows a brilliant thriller writer and social fixture who's so upset at losing his wife to a young hairdresser that he hatches a complex revenge plan.

Caine played the hairdresser in the original and Laurence Olivier played the writer (both got Oscar noms for their work). This time around Caine plays the writer and Law the hairdresser.

Castle Rock is financing but won't sell domestic or foreign distribution rights until the film has been completed.
