Director James Mangold's remake of the 1957 western "3:10 to Yuma", which will star Russell Crowe, has been put into turnaround at Sony reports Variety.
After four years of development, shooting was set to begin this summer. That now looks to be on hold until at least October to give him time to shop it around to other studios. Crowe, who came onboard after leaving Baz Luhrmann's Australian epic, remains attached so the chances are pretty good for a pickup.
The exact same situation happened to Mangold several years ago with his Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line". After Sony gave up, Mangold took it around and eventually found Fox who turned it into a critical and commercial hit.
Unlike other recent cancelled high profile projects though, there's no budget issues here with the finances still very much in check and a less than $60 million budget.
