  • Further "Seven Samurai" Remake Info
    By Garth FranklinMonday June 5th, 2006 4:28pm
More detailed quotes from actor Donnie Yen about The Weinstein Company's proposed remake of the Kurosawa classic "Seven Samurai" have emerged over at Twitchfilm. The comments paint a slightly different picture to that of the brief snippets offered up in the tabloids last week:

Here's what Yen actually said in full: "I did meet Harvey Weinstein at Cannes, and we talked about a few projects, including a movie in which he intends to get me, George Clooney and Zhang Ziyi. It's a remake of an Akira Kurosawa movie, but I do not know the details, for production would only begin next year. His company has two to three movies for me, I'm only waiting for the scripts to be out. If they're indeed filming Seven Samurai, I'd be raring to join, for I admire Akira Kurosawa greatly".

In other words it sounds like one of Harvey's many ideas that are thrown out there at Cannes to gauge interest, as such the project is purely a pipe dream for now.
