Queen Latifah will star in "Welfare Queen", a fact-based story of Dorothy Woods who scammed the welfare system out of a fortune, for Focus Features reports Variety.
The deal with Latifah's Flavor Unit productions allow her to plan modestly budgeted films for Focus and its genre division Rogue Pictures. After 'Welfare' comes 'Horror in the Hamptons', a Alex Mirkin-penned teen slasher film, and the Michael Sinder-scripted reality show spoof "Reality Sucks".
Abdul Williams is writing the script for 'Welfare'. Latifah next stars in the film remake of "Hairspray".
