  • "Black Sheep" Begins Production
    By Garth FranklinMonday March 6th, 2006 2:30am
Horror comedy BLACK SHEEP, the debut feature film written and directed by Jonathan King, commences principal photography in and around Wellington on 6th March.

Produced by Philippa Campbell (NO. 2, RAIN), BLACK SHEEP is an irreverent thrill ride into the dark heart of rural New Zealand. On a vast sheep station a reckless genetic engineering experiment goes horribly wrong, turning sheep into blood-thirsty killers.

Internationally renowned physical effects house Weta Workshop, lead by Academy Award winner Richard Taylor (THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, KING KONG, THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA : THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE) are creating the killer sheep.

Newcomers Nathan Meister and Danielle Mason feature in the ensemble cast alongside Oliver Driver (MAGIK & ROSE, SNAKESKIN), Tammy Davis (WHALE RIDER), Peter Feeney (TOY LOVE) and industry veteran Glenis Levestam.

BLACK SHEEP is financed by the New Zealand Film Commission, NZ On Air, and the Korean based Daesung Group, under the Daesung Group/Park Road Post business alliance.

Already attracting strong international interest, BLACK SHEEP pre-sale deals include a sale to Icon Film Distribution securing theatrical distribution in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

New Zealand Film is handling the film's international sales.
