Rob Schrab is co-creator of comic book "Heat Vision and Jack" and the upcoming Robert Zemeckis film "Monster House". Suicide Girls recently got a chance to talk with Schrab who talked about how 'Vision' is coming along.
He confirmed that back in 2000 he wrote two drafts of it but it stayed stuck in development hell for years. Then last year they showed the script to Ben Stiller who told the studio he''ll direct it only if Rob and Dan write the script.' They said yes so now Schrab's in the process of writing yet another version of a Heat Vision and Jack movie.
Will it be an origin story? "I don't want to do an origin story. Who wants to see the first half hour of the movie where Jack's not on that motorcycle? The title sequence is the origin story. When the lights go down and the movie starts, Jack's already on the motorcycle, the motorcycle's talking. Who cares? We didn't do an origin story in the pilot so we're going to approach the film in the same way".
How close is it to actually happening? "As much as we want to get it done, we also want to spend some time on it. We don't want to just fuck it up and kick out some piece of shit. Jack said 'Just give me a script and I'll seriously make room for it.' Stiller loves the project and feels the same way. Right now we just have to get a decent script that's well structured, funny and makes sense but also be crazy and out there".
