  • From "Little Britain" To Hitchcock
    By Garth FranklinThursday February 2nd, 2006 1:56am
"Little Britain" star Matt Lucas is to play Alfred Hitchcock in a movie about the film director. Lucas has signed to appear in the as yet untitled production on Hitchcock's early life in the East End of London.

He will be joined by Hollywood star Ewan McGregor when shooting begins later this year. The Mirror quotes a source: "Matt is the perfect choice. Their physical similarities are uncanny and he is a big fan of Hitch's movies. It's his first major film role and he's looking forward to going on to the big screen."

Matt Lucas made his debut on the London stand-up comedy circuit at the age of eighteen in 1992, and made a name for himself alongside comedian David Walliams with the hit comedy series "Little Britain" in which he plays a multitude of characters including teenage school girl Vicky Pollard, the wheelchair bound Andy, the Barbara Cartland-esque Dame Sally Markham, and of course the famous Dafydd who's tagline 'I'm the only gay in the village' has become a much used pop culture slogan.
