  • Fox & Showtime Talk More "Development"
    By Garth FranklinThursday January 26th, 2006 11:51pm
At the Television Critics Association press tour last week, Fox executives faced tough questions from reporters about its endangered critical darling, comedy "Arrested Development". Now Playing Magazine reports that Fox has yet to cancel the show, which makes it difficult for another network to even talk about picking it up.

Peter Liguori, president of entertainment at Fox, was careful not to give a definitive answer about the future of the show on his or any other network - "It is regrettable that we could not find the audience that the show deserved. It is in fact a studio property. If there's interest at other networks, it's the studio's right and Mitch [Hurwitz, creator]'s right to move that on and put that up to bid."

At a session devoted to premium cable network Showtime, president of entertainment Robert Greenblatt confirmed "I think there's a lot of reasons why it fits for us. And we are, in fact, talking to Twentieth [Century Fox] Television about bringing it to Showtime."

ABC president Stephen McPherson also expressed interest in the show, "We certainly would have interest if there was ever a possibility. I don't really foresee that happening. I think it's a long shot".
