  • "The Messengers" Set Details
    By Garth FranklinTuesday January 17th, 2006 6:07pm
"The Eye" filmmakers The Pang Brothers are preparing for the August release of their next supernatural thriller "The Messengers", and About.Com recently visited the set to uncover some interesting new details.

"This is a different kind of supernatural story because it shows the point of view of both the people and those who are haunting them" says the brothers who were very upfront about the changes made to the story when they came onboard - "The basic beats of the story - a city family moves to the country and is haunted were kept intact. While the crows and the scares stayed in, the scarecrows were out. At the very beginning, the story is [tied into] the scarecrows, so the working title was Scarecrows. But after we rewrote the script, you never see the scarecrows".

International playboy turned screenwriter Mark Wheaton adds "Some of the changes were story-related - scenes added, scenes subtracted. "[It's] like developing any script, but some became pre-production issues, which was most interesting to me, such as learning how to write scares for budget, changing the architecture of the house to match various necessary camera angles, etc. Of course, notes like 'more crows!' were my favorite to address as I loved writing crow-madness, but a lot had to be accomplished very quickly".
