    "Mario Van Peebles has signed to direct "Yellow Wood," a mystery thriller Stephen J. Cannell is producing for Spyglass Entertainment. Van Peebles also will act in the movie. The movie is Van Peebles' first directorial outing since "Baadasssss!". The story centers on a woman who is haunted by the long-ago murder of her older sister. Working with a radical researcher, she travels deep into her dreamscape and is able to relive and change the past, but things don't work out as planned..." (full details)

    "Scott Rudin won a bidding battle for screen rights to the J.R. Moehringer memoir "The Tender Bar," beating several bidders. Rudin will set it at a studio after he enlists a filmmaker. The Hyperion book by the Pulitzer Prize-winning Los Angeles Times writer was published this week to glowing reviews. Autobiographical story tells how Moehringer, who grew up not knowing his father, found surrogates by haunting the Manhasset pub where his uncle tended bar. Moehringer eventually got a copyboy job at the New York Times and then became an L.A. Times reporter, winning a Pulitzer for feature writing..." (full details)
