Accusing Revolution Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment of copyright infringement and unfair competition, Marvel Enterprises and 20th Century Fox have filed suit against Sony and Revolution says The Hollywood Reporter.
The suit claims that the upcoming Sony/Revolution sci-fi comedy "Zoom" starring Tim Allen uses key elements from the "X-Men" franchise. "Zoom" has yet to start production, but the premise involves teenage mutant super-heroes, an underground training facility, and a sinister government program which are a signature of the "X-Men" franchise.
What's causing all the ruckus is Sony's decision to release "Zoom" next May 12th, just two weeks before "X3" comes out. The lawsuit, seeking injunctive relief and monetary damages, makes the release date a key part of the complaint.
