Principal Photography will commence on April 13th on "The Decameron", an Italian-British-French co-production based on Giovanni Boccaccio's classic novel. The updated feature film version is written and directed by David Leland (Band of Brothers) who returned to the original text to weave its many tales into a single narrative.
The film stars Hayden Christensen (Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, Shattered Glass), Mischa Barton (The O.C., The Sixth Sense, Lawn Dogs) and Tim Roth (Planet of the Apes, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs). The ensemble cast includes Craig Parkinson, Chris Egan, Kate Groombridge, Rosalind Halstead, Matthew Rhys, Rupert Friend, Ryan Cartwright, Nigel Planner and David Walliams.
The film will mark the debut of Roberto Cavalli as costume designer, with each outfit exclusive and tailor-made. Roberto Cavalli will also produce for the first time in association with Martha De Laurentiis and financier Tarak Ben Ammar. The film's production designer is Jim Clay and the director of photography is Ben Davis.
With "The Decameron", David Leland has created an original and irreverent comedy inspired by the 14th Century but with a modern spin (including original costumes, music and contemporary dialogue) designed to appeal to teenage audiences who will relate to the classic problems with sex and love faced by Boccaccio's young characters.
Filming will take place on location in Tuscany and Rome.
