Former SNL star Tim Meadows has joined the cast of Revolution Studios' The Benchwarmers, which has begun filming in Los Angeles. The comedy is directed by Dennis Dugan and stars Rob Schneider, David Spade, Jon Heder, Jon Lovitz and Craig Kilborn. The Benchwarmers tells the story of three guys who try to make up for their lack of athleticism when they were younger by forming a three-man baseball team to challenge a full squad of elementary school baseballers. Joan Cusack has joined and Amanda Peet is in final talks to star in "The Martian Child", an adaptation of a short story by sci-fi writer David Gerrold. In the film John Cusack plays a sci-fi writer who, wanting to be a dad, adopts a 7-year-old boy who may be an alien.
