'Fawn' from the Dutch press has a small piece of information on Disney's planned direct-to-video sequel to one of their most classic films of all time:
"This week I was invited to the Space Mountain 2 presentation at Disneyland Resort Paris. I got to talk to someone at Disney and we got into a discussion on how Disney 'milks' great animated classics by producing direct to dvd sequels. Of course the subject of Bambi 2 came up.
It seems that Disney really wants to do a great job with this sequel. They want to match the animation to the one that was done in 1942: the audience must not see the difference. According to the Disney representitive they succeeded in doing that (she had seen several scenes already). The story also isn't a boring "Son of Bambi" tale, but goes back in time and shows how Bambi was raised by his surrogate father. Call it the missing years."
Meanwhile, "Bubba Ho-tep" director Don Coscarelli showed up on local Dallas radio this weekend to talk about the Bruce Campbell-led sequel and Cinema Blend has the details:
"According to Don the script for the film, which he calls Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She Vampire is underway and being written this time by Joe Landsdale instead of Coscarelli. Landsdale is the original author of the short story on which Bubba Ho-tep is based, so it looks like this time they're going straight to the source.
With Landsdale busy on other scripting projects, Coscarelli expects the Bubba 2 script completed by Halloween 2005 at the earliest, so there's no chance we'll see it in theaters before some time later in 2006, assuming they get funding."
