  • "Alpha Dog" Gets Deknackered
    By Garth FranklinMonday April 4th 2005 12:55pm
The Nick Cassavetes-directed "Alpha Dog" has hit its fair share of production problems so far, and now it seems to have become logged in a severe pothole from which it might not escape. Inspired by the true story of an alleged drug dealer accused of masterminding a kidnap-murder, the true story follows the man famously named Jesse James Hollywood.

Unfortunately that man with the wacky monkier recently got captured in Brazil and is due to go on trial, which causes both narrative and potential legal problems for the production. Today, Variety revealed that on top of this, a fight has erupted between Sidney Kimmel, who financed the film, and its domestic distributor New Line, over who should pay to finish the film.

Cassavetes has run out of money it seems while trying to complete the project which has an all-star cast including Bruce Willis, Sharon Stone, Justin Timberlake and Emile Hirsch. Kimmel wants more money from New Line, but the studio won't make a decision until they've seen the film in 'some form' pending upon which they'll make a decision.

    Thanks to 'Carl'.
