Those red "Baywatch" swimsuits could be doing their slow-motion running on the big screen it seems, but without the show's staple man David Hasselhoff.
The Guardian reports that DreamWorks have confirmed that they have paid around $1.25M for the film rights to the NBC show that, at its peak a decade ago, was the world's most popular TV program. The 12-season long series followed a group of lifeguards patrolling a Californian beach.
The shows original creators Michael Berk, Doug Schwartz and Greg Bonnan are on-board as producers, alongside Michelle Beck and horror maven Eli Roth. At present lead star/producer David Hasselhoff is not involved in the deal.
As yet it's unsure whether any of the show's large cast over the years including Pamela Anderson, Yasmine Bleeth, David Chokachi, Michael Bergin, Carmen Electra, Gena Lee Nolan or Traci Bingham will be asked back for roles or cameos.
