  • New Look "A-Team" Plans Mission
    By Garth FranklinTuesday, October 12th 2004 1:47PM
sp; E! OnlineThat most mid 80's of shows - "The A-Team" - are headed out for another mission, this time on the big screen.

E! Online reports that the show's mastermind, Stephen J. Cannell, and 20th Century Fox, have hired veteran James Bond screenwriter Bruce Feirstein ("Goldeneye", "Tomorrow Never Dies") to pen the script. The film has been in development for years, but only now is it finally gaining momentum.

The famed series followed a group of Vietnam vets on the run for a crime they didn't commit and righting assorted wrongs. The new version will be updated to reflect current political issues and be a more serious action vehicle than the comic-toned TV series.

Cannell says "Not to denigrate the TV show, but nobody ever died. We drove cars off cliffs and people got out and walked away. We're not going to do that [in the movie]. In this the tone is more dangerous-you can really die. It's very tense and exciting".

Still no word who'll direct The A-Team, and casting has yet to get underway but it's expected Mr. T himself will have a cameo of some sort, though not as his famed character B. A. Baracus. Cannell is also at work on an updated movie version of the famed Johnny Depp highschool series "21 Jumpstreet".

    Thanks to 'Vic'.
