Rumours have begun that Sony are looking at redoing some of the MGM films that they now own and 'Bazaar' has details on one of the more interesting:
"They're tinkering with the idea of remaking McQueen classic THE GREAT ESCAPE. Financials are being looked at as we speak (long ongoing process). It's being developed by Mark Burnett and Sylvester Stallone.
It'll be the same bag, just a little slicker, but circa 1940's still. They've been discussing the classic motorcycle flight from a squadron of Nazi soldiers. The motorcycle scenes were not in the real-life breakout but were added at McQueen's suggestion because of his own passion for motorcycles.
Sly may play the McQueen part, who with his pals plot an escape from a German P.O.W. camp.
Sony's apparently keen to work with Stallone so this might also mean good news for his Rocky film".
Thanks again to 'Bazaar'.
